Hi there,

It would appear I've blown the filters in the power socket of a 1571 drive, does anyone know what part I should get as a replacement ?
Any OZ or NZ suppliers ?

Thanks

Mark

I may have an empty case (sans drive mechanism) I can send you - let me hunt thru the garage this weekend.

cheers,

That's very generous and I'm not about to turn you down ;-)

What would you like in return though ?  I'm sure I can find something to trade, managed to gather all sorts of odds and ends here.

Drop me a mail at strandedinnz at yahoo.com

Regards

Mark

Hey mate, what do you mean by filters ? The fuse ? The caps ?

Have you tried Dick Smith ? I've had some success in getting replacement parts for varios older stuff from them but you have to dig - the idiot shop staff don't know much about anything other than mobile phones!

Quick update in case anyone is interested :-)

I replaced the IEC filtered socket with just a plain IEC socket from Dick Smith, cost a whole $1.50 vs $35 for a filtered version.

Turns out the 1571 survived it's adventure unscathed :-)  Can't get the black scorch off of the inside mind.

Now I'll be putting in a replacement ROM and I'm hoping that'll be the end of problems for another 20 years.

Regards!
