Ok, another hack is forming in my mind... this time Commodore serial bus to RS-232..

First, we know that Commodore uses a serial version of the IEEE-488 bus. *Assuming* there is a way to change from serial to parallel, one could use this device to talk to a PC via RS-232, and have the PC act as listener/talker/controller.

So we know the parallel port has issues with timing, forcing us to step down to DOS mode for things like XE1541, etc... but the serial port shouldnt have this limitation... possibly?

Thoughts?

(As an aside.. this has to be the worlds longest Ebay posting)

Here's a cheaper model for someone who might know enough about electronics to try this out:

If nothing else, it would interesting to try the SFD-1001's IEEE-488 interface and see if one could write code to simulate an SFD-1001 disk drive or some other PET disk drive.
