Dead C128 ...

Hi ,
i'm the owner of a so-loved but no more fonctional Commodore 128. The crash arrives when i was playing with an electric motor plug in the CN2 port (K7 reader). I think that a Short cut happens, then smoke and then nothing more.
I've tried to repair it by changing the Q3 (transistor) components (which has burnt)  with an equivalent one, but i was young and i had no possibility to check the new transistor is an real equivalent of the old one. Result is that after the changes, the computer still dead ...
May i ask you to give me the real Q3 transistor nomenclature please ?
Do you think that other components could have been damaged by the Shortcut ?

Bringing my C128 to live again is a really a dream for me (it was my best friend for a long time) and i hope you will understand me request

I myself don't the specifications of that, but I could ask master repair technician, Ray Carlsen.

Yes, that short circuit could have burned out many more components.

Hi,

Q3 is a 2SD880. However, you most likely have caused further damage to other components.
Check U1 and U4  (CIAs 6526).

first you gonna need a schematic of the computer which can be found here (use the 310378 series for the flat 128 series) http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/schematics/computers/c128/index.html

next check the fuse make sure it`s still good, then check with your multimeter the power supply and make sure it`s still working the 5 volts and the 9 volts respectively
