Never mind if it's in a computer....I'm just wondering if the 6502, 6510, 8510 (whatever's in the 128 lol)...were ever, and still are (possibly) in use today in say, embedded systems of some sort?

I've heard rumors on Usenet of car wash systems that still use WD 65816 processors.

Yes, 6502 and 65816 CPUs are still actively being used in exisiting controllers and some folks are still doing new implementations with them.

Excellent answers guys...IT's being used alot more than I originally thought (from some of the things on that 6502.org website). It's good to know something so old is still being used...I know the SID chips are still very popular too :-)...

It's a bit different with SID chips because they are not being produced anymore. It's old SID chips that are used. However, different variants of 6502 are still being made by Western Design Center.
