It strikes me that creating a clone 17xx that is entirely compatible with the C= articles really only requires the MOS 8726 REC.

Of course, finding a ready supply of these now days may be difficult...
That chip has been thoroughly dissected and the functionality reproduced so it isn't outside the realm of possibility. I've found the REU in the 1541 Ultimate has rendered all my other REUs unnecessary.

Anything in particular you want to know about them?

For all of you Amiga collectors out there, have a look at this ebay item: "Amiga Magazine collection mini guides/books 13 in total", itemnumber 300270270816.
Why did you post about that particular auction? There's nothing of particular interest in that lot.

The trick is finding a way to make money from something you would do for free. Earning a hobby-based income is a nice way to whittle away the years.

There's a large website repository of photos of Commodore equipment and peripherals. The name escapes me but I could dig out the URL if you're curious. Pictures of just about everything but they're always accepting submissions. Sort of a photographic version of Project 64.

We had to add two extra 'free tables' at the World of Commodore. Sort of looked like a flea market and I was amazed and pleased to see that everything was taken. I put out a lot of stuff I could have eBayed but I figured that someone might get a kick out of finding something valuable just sitting there for the taking.

Time to start accumulating goodies for next year...

Too bad...  That reminds me of the guy I met at the SC3 arcade party last year who said he was the original author of Color 64 BBS, before Greg Pfountz (I can't remember was his name was now).
Anthony Tolle? I wonder what has become of him and his BBS Sonic Temple (which was pretty nice).

I could sell you some of my free time but then it wouldn't be free now would it. :)

Oh well...  As long as it works, yellowing really doesn't bother me.
That's really easy to fix.

VICE / VICE 2.1 Released!
December 20, 2008, 11:27 AM
The VICE team decided to one up Santa Claus and give everyone an early Christmas gift this year. Version 2.1 of the VersatIle Commodore Emulator has been released. A list of changes/additions to this version can be found here and until the VICE homepage gets updated you'll have to download directly from Sourceforge (some versions are also available from Zimmers).

Enjoy.

I love the Amiga too but having to choose one Commodore as my favourite would be difficult. I do have some amazing memories (thanks for them?) of the early Amiga days though...

I read somewhere online that an SX64 keyboard will work as well. Might not look pretty, but it sure would be different!
And expensive. :(

Make sure you ask him to include the right connector cable.

I believe that was on the free table. It's hard to keep track. Printers aren't in high demand around here.

It's a shame you weren't able to make it because it was a blast. The downside is that I'm totally knackered after staying up until 4am hacking, talking, joking and drinking for two nights in a row. It gets harder ever year...

I was going to suggest you come to the World of Commodore this weekend but it would be a heck of a journey from Dryden. Yikes. It's easy to forget how big this Province is.

Nice to see you here, darkatx. You going to make it to World of Commodore this year? It's looking like we're going to break 100 attendees again this year!

There are meetings on the third Thursday of every month except for July and August. There's usually an informal (not that the meetings are formal) gathering/BBQ-type thing every summer too. You don't have to be a member to attend and there's no charge either. Might as well come by and hang out.
