And getting cought driving without the proper insurance in Mexico is an offense that will land you in jail there.  And once you get sent to a jail in Mexico, you could be there for a very long time before they "get around" to trying your case.
It is worth adding that in Mexico you are legally guilty until proven innocent which is the opposite of what most of us are use to. Exercise caution.

If you do decide to rent a car in Mexico for a trip to the U.S.A., make sure you tell the rental car company that you intend to cross the border or you may run into trouble. Things are complicated.

True.  :)
I'll mark you down as a tentative for World of Commodore 2013 then. Might be a shock to your system to attend an expo with so many attendees.

QuoteA lot could happen between now and then.
You're not planning on taking all your Commodore hardware to the tip and getting that TI-99/4A you've had your eye on, are you? You'll regret it.

Heh, one of my matchmaking friends wants me to buy a new Ford Mustang, thinking that females will come flocking.
Perhaps their thinking is that with a muscle car you'll be better able to catch fleeing females. ;D

You never would have fit in that wee glass, laddie.

It's the day after and I've got me a spanking case of Guinness gut. Not good. Luckily a cure is at hand. More Guinness.

H'okay. If anyone needs a copy of the Loadstar Compleat, send me a PM. I've got one going begging. I asked for it for Christmas a fear years ago and ended up with multiple copies. It's worth it for the extra Lode Runner levels alone. :)

You should tell us about the stuff before you list it. Might save yourself some fees, no?

Hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast. That's what I always say*.

(*I've never said that before.)

Clearly I've had enough Guinness.

Moving to the mid-west has the advantage that you'll be closer to the big Commodore expos. :)

Dunno when (or if) I'll get better but I keep hoping all this medical crap is going to turn around for me soon.
When, not if. Stick with the positive thoughts, difficult though it may be at times. It really does help.

What Canadian city is considered to be the "gay capital"?
That would be Toronto. From what I've read Toronto has a larger gay population than San Francisco but because of our overall population, the percentage is smaller. I've also heard that Toronto has one of, if not the, largest gay community of any city. Yay us. We're very "festive" (Simpsons fans will get that).

It's interesting to watch the city be painted pink every year for Pride Week. Think what you will about homosexuals, those folks know how to organize a parade.

Tips & tricks / Re: Heat sinking
November 11, 2008, 03:49 PM
It's always a good idea to apply thermal paste to ensure contact between the chip and the heatsink. Also worth noting, most speciality computer stores (not Best Buy type mega-stores) sell heatsinks for use with video cards. I've had good luck finding ones that are exactly the right size.

Maybe they were scared to not go through eBay, to not have that protection.

But I was offering to put it up on eBay with BIN for them (lest I run afoul of eBay's rules). Anyway, it wasn't a scientific experiment. I was just using it as an example of the vagaries of eBay.

Just add the auction # to http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item= and you're good to go. :)

Sadly yours might only fetch a fraction of that price. There's always someone browsing who sees what they want and wants it *now*. The problem is find another such person. I remember seeing an auction for an unboxed item close at a price that I would have been glad to sell my identical item (with box and manual). I sent the 2nd place bidder a message telling them what I had and offering to sell it for what they had bid on the other item. No deal. I guess they realized they had been swept up in the emotion of bidding. ARGH!

eBay sucks.

Herdware / Re: Monitor cable
November 04, 2008, 12:21 PM
My first thought is that I don't remember any C= video cables with two red and two RCA plugs and my second is that you need a video cable with an 8 pin DIN rather than a 5 pin one. I'd have my doubts about the cable before the monitor.
