Is this a fully functioning board? My 128D is on the sidelines at the moment because of either a VIC or memory problem.
Well, the guy I got it from claims it worked... I was keeping it around as a spare part in case I needed it, but since I'm getting rid of my last 128D, I decided to get rid of it, too. As such, I've listed this particular item as "untested - sold as is".
I do make an attempt to test all items I sell, but I'm not about to take apart the only 128D that I have in order to do so. The 128D that I have up for auction, on the other hand, IS a fully tested, working unit. :)

Why ?????

Mainly for financial reasons... but additionally, I have MANY standard, flat C128's, and just the one 128D. So from a longevity point of view, if a 128 has a problem, I have plenty of spare parts to last me for years. If the 128D has a problem (keyboard dies, for example), I'd be out of luck. I figure, better to sell it now while it works than to hold onto it until it dies.
Don't worry, though... I'm not giving up on Commodore 128's. ;-)

It's missing the SID and the Character ROM, correct? (I've been looking at it...)
Yes... I've got a spare charachter ROM chip that I could put in there... But I don't have any 8580 SID chips, unfortunately.

I'm keeping an eye on it. It's always a struggle to decide what to dole out my paltry computing allowance for.
I've got a second mostly-working flat C128 now, but it would be nice to have another unit with 64K of video RAM and the latest chips. (I added the CMD 64K add-on board to my main flat C128, along with a BASIC-8 ROM.) Of course, your board would leave me with the problem of finding a cheap, dead C128D case to put it in. If it works. *sigh*
I DO have a late-model C64C with a working 8580 in it, so that's not really a problem. It's amazing to me that SID chips seem to regularly sell on eBay for 3x the price of a working Commodore 64.
BTW, did you see that a 1571 RAMBoard went on e Bay yesterday for over $125? It was under $25 at my last bid 2 minutes before the auction ended. Friggin' snipers. ;)
Yeah... Those eBay snipers can be ruthless... :butter:
BTW... You did see that I also have a fully working 128D up for auction right now, didn't you? :)
-Andrew
Sure... just let me dig out my checkbook right now! Do I get the "nice guy" discount? :)

Makes me want to guard the 1571 RAMBoard in my drive all the more. :-) Now where did I put those 3 1541 RAMBoards in storage?

The 1541 RAMBoards come up for sale every once in a blue moon. There's one right now from Centsible:

I'd never even heard of the 1571 version, I don't think, before the auction mentioned above.
There is a German site (in English, thank goodness!) that has all the info on both of them, including PC board patterns, so you could have a board etched and make your own, but that seems like a lot of work.
