I'm thinking of changing the downloads manager for this site (& Commodore Pet Alive!) to this (http://landover.no-ip.com/mm/downloads). (I'm employing it on my Witches, Pagans & Druids! (http://landover.no-ip.com/mm) site & it's a little more flexible than a static page. Descriptions can also be easily added. Better option than the static web pages ?

Looks nice! And it's fast, too. Think I might try the same for the PDF library, as I've been having a ton of problems setting up the other download script.
I think so. What you could do is add a Downloads message board and when you add a new file, post a message with a description of the file, file size, hardware requirements etc. and in the description field in the download manager, put a link to that post. This facilitates getting maximum information to the potential downloader AND encourages discussion about the program.
Note: I also posted this at PET Alive! but I figured I would post it here too in case others had comments about the idea.

Some good ideas there.

It looks nice, but the TYPE and DOWNLOAD columns seem to wide while the description column seems to narrow. But like gklinger said, it would be great to have a link to a post'd description for comments etc.

They're all configurable.
