I've just managed to pick up a whole heap of 5.25" disk cleaning kits (NOS - and in top nick).
Available to whoever wants any for cost of postage plus $AU1
cheers,
Lance
After months of wanting one, I finally managed to find one a couple of weeks ago at the local computer recycler. But they ARE rare birds, and anyone with a CBM drive should have one. Especially if they run their rusty 20-year-old disks through them.

I haven't counted 'em yet, but there are over 40 (will post a scan later)

would love to get one, but shipping will prob kill me.. What I really need is a Disk notcher, anyone have an extra one they care to sell?
There's one for sale at a VERY reasonable price on eBay. It's one of the desktop types, and it's only $2.95, with $9.33 shipping. Yes, shipping is a bear, but the combined price isn't bad. And it's 'Buy it Now', which makes it easier.

In short, they're available all over the world. But it still sounds to me like the best deal is the one I pointed you to in the first place. :rodna:
Airship,
Did you notice that the notcher in your first post was for 3.5" disks to make them appear to be HD disks?
No. Otherwise I wouldn't have made myself such an ass about it. :grĂ¥ta:
Here's the pics of the drive cleaning kits (unfortunately, the camera had to deal with a fair amount of reflected light, so they ain't wonderful!). However, the kits are totally sealed & "as new" & are in top nick.
3.5" kit :

Yes, please. Thanks!
Looks like you have some nice cleaning kits there... Personally, I prefer the cotton swab w/ alcohol method... ;)

I used to use alcohol, but I've found that plain old soap and water works best.
Dan...
Nice thing about the drive cleaning kits, though, is you don't have to take your drive apart to clean it.
I just put the drives in the back of a pickup truck and drive through the car wash. Seems to work.
Note: Do not ask for "hot wax".
swordfish, if you still want a disk notcher there's one on eBay:

Airship, thanks for posting the link to my auction for the disk notcher... I was just about to come in here to do the same thing... ;)
BTW, this is the very disk notcher that you gave the link to earlier:

I went ahead and took a risk and ordered several of these, even though there was no photo. They're actually very good disk notchers, in an orange-red color. They're the exact same design as the blue one that I've been using since the 80's. :)
Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone on this forum a "heads up" that you can get these from the company listed above... Or, get them from me on eBay. ;)

Cool. I've got two just like this (one gray and one blue) and they work the best of all the styles I've seen. I ferociously guarded my little gray one back in the INFO offices. It was always trying to walk away. :)
