Title: IDE64 Project

What is the status of this device? I've seen a Sept 07 post regarding some software upgrade on the IDE64 web site but no "project activity" update since 2006.

Is there a demand for the interface? If so, what is delaying its release?

Have a look at the IDE64 News (http://news.ide64.org/) page, the last progress update on the new V4 is from August 01, 2007.

I will buy one as soon as it's released.

Thanks for the info! I was looking at their main page which noted it (main page) was last changed 8-06. Unfortunately, after reviewing the "current" update list,  it shows the IDE64v4 was first announced 01-07.  Since its now close to 11-07................?

Development has been going very slowly and it is a bit frustrating. Many of us have been waiting a long time to get one and the 3.x versions are very hard to find and sell for quite a bit of money when they do pop up.

I wonder how many C64 and 128 users there are and what the potential sales is for the IDE64? Are the folks working on the IDE64 also working on other projects that delay its release? The developers must do "other things". Maybe this is their hobby and hence no need to launch the latest release. Possibly the original release had a few too many bugs that were later worked out and they are trying to avoid a repeat?

Anyhow, I just wanted to know the current status of this product. It would make a nice Christmas present! I know, don't hold my breath.

Almost all Commodore development projects are done mostly for love, not money. The guys at Protovision may make their living creating and selling Commodore stuff, but I can't think of anyone else who does.

We're just fortunate there are so many talented people still creating hardware and software for our favorite machines - even if earning a living in the real world does keep them from finishing as quickly as we'd like.
