Hi there,
If I have a machine quipped with JiffyDOS, can those ROMs be saved to a file on a drive ? And can those files be then burnt back into an EPROM ?
This is more for interest so that if a ROM is soldered to the motherboard can it be backed up to a ROM file and then reburnt ?
(I could cheat and pop it into my EPROM burner but I want to know how much can be done form the C128 side)
Thanks!
Mark
There's a program to do this that was mentioned in another post where I was wanting to dump my 1571 ROMs. No time to look it up right now, but it's here somewhere.

Sure. Use
Drive Memory Dump (http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=49683). Why though? Images of all C= and JiffyDOS disk ROMs are already available.

Absolutely.
When using 'Drive Memory Dump' it creates 4 files. How do you write those files back to a new ROM? What EPROM burner do you use? What software? The only ROM images I have seen (e.g. Jiffy DOS) are a single file.
Also what does it mean when it says in the Help that CMD HD & FD ROMs use protected memory?
Any help appreciated, thanks.

If you're going to buy an eprom programmer then most of them will allow you to read the existing rom anyway, which might be easier for you.
fwiw I bought one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/48-Pin-USB-Universal-EPROM-GAL-FLASH-Programmer-VP180_W0QQitemZ140186711565QQihZ004QQcategoryZ50914QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem
I haven't used it yet though. You can get cheaper programmers and you can more expensive ones.
These get a good write up: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOP2005-USB-Universal-Programmer-EPROM-FLASH-MPU_W0QQitemZ130181102360QQihZ003QQcategoryZ4661QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem
