Title: REU & MMC64 setup in VICE
Post by: jpat100 on December 16, 2007, 09:47 PM
I am having trouble setting up a 17xx REU and /or a MMC64 using VICE 1.22.  I can get either a Drive C icon or a RamDisk icon, but I cannot do anything with them on the Desktop.  One time, I was able to swap the contents of the A drive to C (C= Shift A), but I still could not access C at all - it was labeled with the correct label, but I could not click on it or anything.  Any help will be greatly appreciated - Thanks!!

GEOS only really works with 2 drives, A and B.  Drive C is always the 'other' drive.  You can swap drive C with A or B, but you can only ever use drive A or B.  To put it another way, Drive C can do nothing except swap with A or B.

If GEOS Configure program gives the option for DMA transfer or 1541 RAM disk then it sounds like you setup 17x0 REU correctly.  In VICE (for Windows) you just need to check REU setting 'Enable' and select a size.  Select 128K for 1700, 256K for 1764, or 512K for 1750.  You can specify a file to save the RAM data, but this is not neccessary.

I dunno about MMC.
