Subject line says it all. I'm in Kenmore and I know a guy near Tacoma, but that's all I've been able to find. Isn't anyone else near here?

There is the Upper Peninsula Commodore Home User Group (UPCHUG) in Tacoma, and we do have a FCUG member who lives in Seattle.

Yeah. check out UPCHUG. I went to the last meeting, it was small, there are usually 6-7 members from what I hear; here's hoping for the next meeting.

Gene Woods, FCUG/ACUG/UPCHUG member, keeps up-to-date on UPCHUG happenings, more so than the mailing list. If you wish to contact Gene, I can give you his e-mail address in private.

I like Gene; met him in the last meeting. :) Here's hoping more folks show up the next one.
I need to call him and arrange to get his Linux box online via wi-fi... promised to do that a few weeks ago, starting a new job, etc etc... haven't had time :)

I've only been to 2 meetings of UPCHUG - one in 2001 and the other just a few years ago. At those times, there was a respectable number of people in attendance.

In my opinion, 2001 *was* just a few years ago... ;รพ

What? You mean it's not 2005 any more? :-)
Seriously, I tracked down the remnants of the UW user group and discovered that they no longer have much to do with Commodores or any other kind of retrocomputing. Also there are only five of them left. They do have a lot of C= hardware they offered me though. Anyone else got suggestions? :-)
I would suggest getting all the free hardware you can that's just sitting around in people's closets, basements, attics, and storage units, and then "redistributing" it to people who can put it to good use. That's what I've done whenever I find the opportunity to do so. :)

Your idea of starting a new club has merit.

UPCHUG meetings have been suspended. There hasn't been a meeting since Oct. 2009.
