I've recently been in contact with Rick Kane, the author of IPaint & related software. IPaint is an 80 column paint program for the Commodore 128, and requires 64k VDC (achieved by using either a 128D or an upgraded 128*). He has decided to once again make this software available for sale, so I thought I'd mention it here... I don't think he'd mind. Rick writes:
QuoteThe most current versions are IPaint 1.5h and IPort 1.54/D. ... I really never thought much about an upgrade policy. I think I could do half price. The $48 I get for new includes about $4 shipping, so 1/2 price would be $22+4 =$26. Of course, I'd like to get some form of 'proof of purchase', if possible. I think the lower right corner cut from each manual front cover, enough to identify them; say, a piece of the address from IPaint & the "eyes" from IPort. If the manuals are missing, maybe either the disks or just the disk labels? I'll work with you on that. Oh, and I could do PayPal. My ID there is rick1kane@yahoo.com.
You can contact Rick Kane regarding IPaint & related software at ipaint.iport@ymail.com.
*Charles Gutman (http://8bitdesigns.ath.cx/), Ray Carlsen (http://personalpages.tds.net/~rcarlsen/), or an number of other Commodore techs can perform this upgrade for you.
Edit: correction and VDC upgrade info
This is GREAT news for us C128 owners! I've emailed him a couple of times over the last couple of years with no response. So I'll take a little bit of the credit for prodding him into selling it again. :)
I'm off to PayPal right now!
Edit: Just sent off the money. After missing out on ALL of Fotios' stuff, I've learned to buy while stuff is offered.
Knowing that you guys are buying reduces my guilt about giving you copies. ;)

It's good to hear that Rick is still around. A few years ago when I reported on I-Paint/I-Port being still being marketed, Rick did not mention any upgrade policy. Now at the cheaper price, the upgrade is a better deal.
So, I can upgrade my I-Paint, but since I've never bought I-Port, I'll have to pay full price for that.
Note: I-Paint is partially compatible with the SuperCPU 128; in certain I-Paint modes, there is too much mouse jitter with the SCPU on, and you'll have to switch the SCPU down to 2 MHz. for those modes.
