Hi there,
I "found" a copy of GEOS 3.3 on the interweb, does anyone know much about this version ? It's more colourful and has movable windows .. oh and it's in German.
Doesn't see more that 512K of my REU though.
Wonder if I could hexedit it into english ?
Mark
Would you like to share it? :)
Do you know which versions exist of GEOS? The last one I used was 2.0.
Is this the one that's actually for the Plus4 ? I have it - but it also requires a 1551 & those are near impossible to get down under.
I'm half thinking of taking a side trip to the USA while I'm here in Mexico to pick up some of the items that are rare in Australia.
When i get home I'll use you as my backup copy repository .... but you're not to use it just keep hold of it forever as a backup.

Well my C64 did a lovely job of emulating a Plus4 then :-)

I've never heard of GEOS 3.3.

For the Plus 4, there is GEOS 3.5.

Very true. James of cbm264.com was supposed to be working on modding the program so that it could work with C= serial drives, but I haven't heard of any progress in years.

The only thing that I can think of is that somebody modded GEOS 2.0 to have the capabilities of the Plus4 GEOS 3.5 (which was developed in Germany), or somebody ported Plus4 GEOS 3.5 over to the C64.
Very interesting!

Well I am only going by the filename and that it looks drastically different to the normal grey GEOS I know.
But here is the link to it and lots of other stuff:
ftp://ftp.scs-trc.net/pub/c64/Tools/GEOS
So what is it really do you think ?

To bad you missed what I wrote to Robert on January 9'th:

Just for the fun of it, I searched the swedish version of ebay (tradera.com) for Commodore stuff and found a 1551. Do you have one of those? Even though the 1551 can't be used with a C64 or a C128 it's still a nice item for a collection since it's pretty rare.
That auction has ended now. However, the reservprice was not met so he might relist it. I'll keep my eyes open. The highest bid was SEK 467:- which is about US$ 55:-
I contacted the seller and asked if he still had it and he did. He said he wanted SEK 800:- for it (US$ 96) plus shipping. Let me know if you're interested :)

No, thanks though, I'll be patient one will show up eventually :)
I might be. Any chance he's willing to haggle at all?
Jim
It's on Tradera (Swedish version of ebay) again http://www.tradera.com/auction/auction.aspx?aid=82593222 (http://www.tradera.com/auction/auction.aspx?aid=82593222). According to the auction the starting price is SEK 899:- (US$ 110:-) with a BIN of SEK 999:- (US$ 122:-). Postage within Sweden is SEK 225:- (US$ 27.50). I'm afraid though that the postage would be quite high to ship it to the US. International postage from Sweden is ridiculously expensive :(
Please let me know if you need translation of the auction or any other information.

Unfortunately, it's the same here in the U.S., ever since the U.S. Postal Service did away with the option to send via surface mail for international addresses a couple years ago. And everything over 4 pounds (about 1.8 kg) is now required to be sent via Priority Mail, which is even more expensive than standard air mail. :(
According to the auction the 1551 and it's box weighs 7kg. To ship that to the US would be SEK 654:- (US$ 76:50). Insane :(

7kg converts to 15 pounds, 8 ounces. A box weighing that much would cost US$72.50 to ship from here to Sweden. So there's not that much difference.
Apparently the seller did not get his 1551 sold on the Swedish ebay (Tradera) so now it's on the real ebay :)

Starting bid US$ 79 (BIN US$149).
There is another one on ebay together with a Plus/4 and some other stuff. Starting bid £10:
