Hi folks, there is still one PET game I played a lot in my youth and still haven't found again.
I knew it as "Acid Rain" (I'm *sure* that's what the file was called) but it seems that wasn't the game's original name. Probably someone just resaved the game under that (wrong) name.
Some searching and discussion on Denial a while ago gave me a couple good clues. This game has been known as "Money Wars" or possibly "Pit" on other platforms. Here's a C-64 version:

Also, here's a screenshot of a VIC-20 version:

The only thing different from the C-64 version in my memory is that dollar signs were falling down instead of the arrows. I also don't remember those comet type things going left and right.
Any leads on helping me find the PET version?

Amazing! Dave, you have really made my day, and at risk of sounding like a really big loser, this might be one of the highlights of the year :)
I played this game on my friend's PET sometime around 1981-ish. I've been searching for this game ever since I finally owned my own PET, when my high school was selling them off for $25 in 1990 or so. I've asked just about everywhere I've found PET people online and IRL, and no one had even heard of the game, never mind actually having a copy.
It's interesting that the game seems to require the earlier ROM machines, the 30xx series. It runs faster on the 40xx machines, but doesn't respond, or crashes when you try to press keys to get the guy to move.
It also seems to be a hybrid of ML and BASIC. When I get some time, I'll have to check it out and see if I could make it run on 40xx models.
Thanks very much, you really know how to make an entrance :)
