Hi!
Everybody knows program 1581Disk
(Sample disk utility to transfer between C1581 disks and D81 disk images).
The Q is: exists program which copies C1541/C1571 disks and D64/D71 images and vice-versa?
I mean that I can mount to my PC 5,25" floppy and I want to insert CBM 5,25" DSDD diskette into and copy it to D64/D71 image or insert blank 5,25" DSDD disk and write there D64/D71 image.
Why?
Yes, possibilities to copy and backup diskettes are more, Star Commander, MMC Replay etc.
But: I don't want to have DOS PC for Star Commander and also MMC Replay (both I have, but I'm reorganizing my room, so I'm searching for this alternative).
I'm using 1581Disk very often and I'm satisfied, very satisfied.
I want to give away DOS PC and I'm using Win7 x64 (DOSBox can't synchronize correctly XE cable).
I'm owner of C128/C128DCR and more and more I see that MMC Replay is really "C64 ONLY" - not possible to use with C128 (unless menu)... so, it will go away to unusing HW...
This is not a question of Software, the PC-Disk-Controller can only read/write MFM-formats.
There once were (expensive) special controller cards who could also read/write Apple & CBM GCR-Disks, but I don't know if they are available these days.
The better solution is a real drive hooked via X(E,M,P)1571 cable to the printer port, and transfer via star-commander.
(or write the disk images to a 1581 disk and extract on the real machine)
