Title: RAMLink battery type?
Post by: MIRKOSOFT on August 23, 2010, 04:23 PM
Hi!

I have Q:

Which type of battery uses RAMLink to backup data while replacing it?

I'm awaiting RAMLink delivery and want to be READY.

Best is if anybody attach picture of battery... if is not standard. Is possible to buy this battery or is not produced anymore 'cause the connector for battery seems not standard...

Many many thanks for help.

Miro

Hi!

Many thanks for picture, but I found nothing like this in Slovakia.
Can you tell me a price?
Or other alternative to this battery which is possible to buy in Europe?
(best Slovakia)

Thank you very much.

Title: Re: RAMLink battery type - what at power loss?

... so I found st. in Slovakia, but one Q, maybe stupid:

At power loss, if I don't have battery, erases whole SIMMs and configuration too?
There's no way to backup configuration on disk? Or I must in this case configure all again?

Many thanks for every help.

No power no data  :'(

But there are tools avaliable to save and store the configuration on disk.
You may use the handy tool from Sunny: http://www.andiboehm.de/english/hobbies/c64engrlmgr.html

(I don't need this because I only use 3 partitions (1541, native, native) and that configuration is reinstalled manually within seconds)

Since we are on the topic... How do you guys back up data from your Ramlink?  Not the configuration. I can use RLmgr to do that.  I mean your actual data.  I have tried BCOPY+ many times and have had no success.  I have a 4mb RL which I should have no trouble backing up onto a partition on my 1.2gb CMD HD.  Every time I select backup "entire device" in BCOPY+ for my RL with my CMD HD as the target device, it grumbles about not being able to do it.  (Not a technical analysis of what happens - but its been a while since I've tried).

I have posted in these forums about finding a copy of CKIT94, but have yet to come across a copy.  Im not sure what other software is out there for backing up data in CMD native partitions.

Hi guys!

I can't help in this, I'm still awaiting post package of standalone RAMLink, 16MB RAMCard from friend, at home have ready 1541-II PSU for power, only two problems I have:
Batteries are not so easy to find in our shops in Slovakia and don't have software which was distributed with RAMLink - RAMLink UTILITIES DISK.
If any of you have this disk, please make diskimage .dxx and attach it to this topic, please, if you want/can.

I have manual for RAMLink ver.1 (English/Deutsch), ver.3, here's link where you can get it (it's my SkyDrive - in Public), maybe will be useful for you or sb.
