Title: uIEC and Wheels 128
Post by: 128user on February 10, 2011, 04:10 AM
I recently purchased a uIEC from Jim Brain.  I have it up and running.  I was hoping to use it with Wheels 128, but it does not see the drive.  It works as device #10.  My system has a 1571,1581 and a 512K REU.  Does anyone know how to use it with a 128 with Wheels 128? Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Are you using the uIEC as the boot drive.  If so, try it by changing the uIEC to device #8.

1. You have to mount a DNP-Image (Native CMD HD Partition) before you boot to Wheels.
2. It works best if you use the XR: command from current 0.10.1 firmware version with the fake roms from http://www.sd2iec.de/fakeroms.zip. This way the sd2iec-FW mimics a CMD HD when the Wheels Loader is detecting the device.

Thanks for the advice.  I have downloaded the fakerom.zip from the webpage.  I am really new to this. Does this get unzipped and placed on the SD card? How does it get mounted on the uIEC?  Thanks in advance for your help.

I have not tried to used it as a bootable drive.  Wheels does not recognize the drive at all.  Thanks.

Of course you need the current sd2iec version, currently 0.10.1.

Have a look at the Readme regarding the XW und XR commands.
README (http://www.sd2iec.de/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=sd2iec.git;a=blob;f=README;h=7c5f8d66673f353fc20b32718ed5b9fd32d056fe;hb=74dc95b30dc05b12305cf9a5d1ce9fd4839a64ee)

...
XR:name  Set the file used for file-based M-R emulation.
XR       Disable file-based M-R emulation.
See "M-R, M-W, M-E" below. This setting can be
permanently saved in the EEPROM using XW.

XW       Store configuration to EEPROM
This commands stores the current configuration in the EEPROM.
It will automatically be read when the AVR is reset, so
any changes you made will persist even after turning off
            the hardware.
...

Put the fake rom file you are using in the directory where your DNP/D41/D81 images are.

I have not yet used the SD2IEC as a boot drive.
