Hi there,
I've heard rumors about buying from CMDRKEY (slow shipping, none-shipping etc) .. any substance to them ?
Or is JiffyDOS available elsewhere ?
Thanks
Mark

As of this month, I have been waiting for my order for 5 years, 7 months.

Pirated copies are floating around.

I guess the "jiffy" doesn't carry over to order fulfillment. What's up with Maurice?
Read this (http://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22242&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0). It should bring you up to speed.
Goodness. Sounds like he has a sweet gig going there. Take money in, send nothing out (unless the buyer contacts the Michigan Attorney General), and suffer no consequences except to reputation. Nice way to operate a business.
He should be reported to the FTC for wire fraud. It doesn't matter what the form of payment was, only that the order involved electronic communication. Maybe the possibilty of jail time if he doesn't make good on his orders might help him clear out his backlog.
It did make interesting reading ... shame really, he should take more care of his niche market.
He seemed like a decent guy when I met him some years ago, a real credit to the Commodore community through all he was doing. I realize life gets complicated for us all sometimes, but if he can't fulfill his obligations anymore he should refund the money for outstanding orders and close up shop.
nikoniko: You've hit upon the Maurice Randall paradox. He's not a bad guy and everyone likes him personally but they're angry about his business practices and the fact that he's the only source for items they desperately want (CMD hard drives, SuperCPUs Ram Links etc.) Oh well. I hope he cleans up his act before he ends up behind bars. :(

When I win the Lottery I'll buy him out, set up a Classic CBM Product Society as a non-profit and make everything open source. Now, who wants to help me play a lottery wheel?
He isn't selling. Others have tried to buy his business lock, stock and barrel and others have attempted to buy the IP. He isn't having any of it. Evidently he would rather just sit back and watch his name be turned to mud.
Quote from: nikonikoOh well. At least it sounds like it's easy to pirate JiffyDOS.
And how! :) (http://www.divshare.com/download/69499-96e)
/me wonders if anyone will figure that one out...

At a guess I'd say someone could download the ROMS from a link that was linked to a previous link in this thread ... then I guess they could feed them into an EPROM burner and stick them into their C128 ... only a theory of course ... ;-)
But for interest, are ".rom" files feedable to an EPROM burner ?

Yes, but you must "feed" one byte at a time.
I use Promenade C1 for most of Commodore stuff.
Thank you very much, gklinger !! ;)
Yes, the ".rom" files are valid to feed an EPROM burner.
Best Regards.
Alfonso.
Everyone is welcome. What I tell people is that if they feel uncomfortable with piracy they should make their own JD and then email Maurice and ask him to send them an invoice for whatever he charges for JD minus what they had to pay for their eprom. If they ever get an invoice, they can pay it and everyone will be happy. Of course, Maurice isn't so quick to respond to his email...

.
I didn't get this first time I read it, then 4 hours later I was sitting in a coffee shop with my late and muffin and it just clicked!
My brain is weird at times!
Oh and the comic book bubble response is "Groan!" ;-) hehehe
