Title: Woohoo! EPROM programmer! :-)
Post by: Mark Smith on February 05, 2007, 05:28 AM
Well my EPROM programmer has now arrived!

Mangalore pointed me in the direction of a Willem programmer available from http://www.sivava.com/ and since it's not a lot of money and should provide a good learning experience I decided to get one :-)  Took only a week to get to NZ as well.

Also managed to grab some 27C256 EPROMS and a UV eraser for not a lot of cash as well.

So anyway, if anyone has any ROMs they'd like burnt, things like the updated 1571, 1581 ROMS, Kernel ROMS for the CBMs or general other stuff they've whipped up for a PIC or GAL, then drop me a message and we'll see what we can do.

Regards

Mark

Well my EPROMs have arrived as has an EPROM eraser  .... oooh pretty purple light to stare at .. hang on .. I've gone blind!!!!!   ;-)

Anyways, if anyone has some ROMs they'd like burnt to flick them my way and I'll see what I can do ... I'm thinking of something easy to do first and that's just modify a Kernal ROM so that it's more personal to me .. "Mark's 128" or something :-)   And then I'll think of something less frivilous.

Regards

Mark

This sounds good - what sort of pricing are you gonna come up with ?

For peoples off of here I'll do it at cost .. so if you can get the EPROM and what you want burned as well as cover postage costs I'll do it for nothing ... good practise for me :-)  I've a few EPROMs here as well so if you want you can buy one off me .. don't think they cost much.

So far I've just "upgraded" my C128 to the latest 318018-04, 318019-04 and 318020-04 Basic and Kernal ROMs, and I'll do the same for the 1541's, 1571 and 1581.

I can also suck out the contents of ROMs if you like as well, so if you find a newer version for something that sound nice chuck it my way.

Oh yes .. and PLA replacments, that's doable too.

Regards

Mark

While it's sort of doable for a C64 PLA (you need a fast EPROM and some pins rerouted), I don't believe anyone has done it for the C128.

It's been a while now.  Have you burned anything interesting?  I think you had a post on BASIC 8...

Is there a place to download the binaries for all these updates? I have a Willem and blank chips, just need the right images. :)

BUMP.

I too would like to know where to get all these images. I've recently become obsessed with souping up a 128 with every goodie I can find. Any help would be appreciated.
