I've got a chance to pick up a 4MHz Turbo Master accelerator cartridge for the C64.
However, as I've only got a 128 at the moment, does anyone know if this thing will work on it ? (obviously not in 128 mode)
Oz
According to this FAQ it should work in C64 mode only...
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/commodore/main-faq/part8/
but hopefully someone who has one can confirm.
Pick it up anyway, then take it apart, take many pictures and grab dumps of the ROMs .. then we can all have one ;-)

Congratulations, fellow TMer!

Yes, it will. For it to work, flip the switch to disable the cart and then power up in C128 mode (80 or 40-column). Issue a GO64 and when in C64 mode, then flip the cart switch to enable it again. Voila! You'll be in TM mode at 4.09 mhz.

Would you believe a neighbour is tossing out a whole s**tload of Commie stuff ?
So I offered to take (some) of it off him, it's mostly games disks, printers, a 1600 modem, the CPU cartridge & a lot of tapes.
Wasn't sure if the cart would work on the 128, if it didn't I would've eBayed it.

Yeah, I'm on an old-time accelerator kick at the moment. :) Does the TM work well with your PAL Commodore? I've heard stories that it is only NTSC-compatible.

Photos by Dick Estel. Expect a few more photos of the Turbo Master CPU in the future, especially better focused ones and one without the original, handwritten sticker which is covering that chip.

Mr Wiskow, I have these:

Not from my own card though, since I don't have one :( Picked these up on the internet.

There's a large website repository of photos of Commodore equipment and peripherals. The name escapes me but I could dig out the URL if you're curious. Pictures of just about everything but they're always accepting submissions. Sort of a photographic version of Project 64.
Now all we need are a photo or two of the underside of the board. A future photographic shoot.

I may have seen it already, but if you can find the URL, I'd like to check it out. This site (http://www.8bit.dk/pictures/) is one that I refer to quite often when I need some good quality photos of Commodore hardware.

Made a trip and grabbed the Turbo Master CPU from where it was sitting in the house. Andrew, I hope that soon I'll be able to send you more photos of the TM CPU, including the back side.

That's possible.
OT, I just lost a roll of film with Christmas photos on it. It was in my pocket, but when I got to Walgreens, it had vanished. :-(
I suppose it would be the same
if I had lost a camera card for a digital camera,

I'm very sorry to hear that... The same thing happened to me with a roll of film that I shot while I was in Vladivostok, Russia, several years ago. :(

The worst was when my Nikon N65 was stolen. It had precious photos of MossyCon 1 (2005).

Ouch. :(
Roll of Christmas photos found! It had lodged itself under the seat of the car. Now it's at Walgreen's, getting developed.
Unfortunately, the Nikon N65 was never recovered, even though a police report was filed. However, I replaced it with the even better Nikon N80. The only other person to take photos of MossyCon 1 was Jeri Ellsworth. She used a some old digital camera, and I don't think she ever made prints of those shots.
These days I stare at the reduced prices of medium-format cameras, such as the Pentax 67, the Mamiya 7ii, the Bronica RF645, and the Kiev 60.

Robert, that's PromShell, not PromDOS. Which, by the way, is available for downloading on my website (http://cottonwood.servebbs.com/wiskow). :)

Oops, maybe I should review the tape (or review the pics at the updated Sccaners.org website) before I identify programs. :) I can only blame my bleary eyes, after working on editing the AmiWest Show 2003 video before sending it to BIOS for upload to Blip.tv ;)
