Ive got 2 of these, and I only really need one, so I listed one.

The last one I saw on ebay ended at $351, so I put a BIN of $300 just in case the person who missed out on the last one wants this one :D

Enjoy.

well, I dont actually expect it to go BIN - so youve a chance of picking it up for $99 which is less than it cost me :) Like I said I was only fishing for the guy that bid $350 on the last one and missed out :)

$99 for a 1581 and powers supply is a barg, or????

Even in the US where they are quite common they go for around US$200.

I wouldn't say that 1581's are QUITE common in the U.S.  But based on the bidding on your 1581 so far, I'd definately say they're MORE common in the U.S. than they are in Australia.  In my observations of eBay auctions in the past few months, I've seen 1581's in the U.S. sell for around US$80 - 100.

It would take me less than half an hour to put my hands on a few hundred 1581 drive kits. I'm also pretty sure I know where I can lay my hands on an equal amount of drive mechanisms for a few bucks a piece. Anyone who pays more than $50 for a kit and $10 for a disk drive (before shipping costs) is, in my never humble opinion, a sucker. A fool and his money were lucky enough to get together in the first place. :P

If you want a 1581 drive kit, get one from JPPBM (http://www.jppbm.com) and if you don't get a response from him, send me a PM and I'll bug him to hook you up.

Nice price but what are the chances of seeing these kits in our part of the world (or anywhere outside of the US) ? I can guess that postage would add a nice chunk onto them and will they even work away from 110 volts ?

I don't know where your "part of the world is" but I'm comfortable saying it's doable. I've sent a few 1581 drive kits to Europe, one to South America and one to Israel (is that considered Asia?). It takes time and it isn't cheap although it is cheaper than the inflated prices I'm seeing them selling for in Australia. As for power, it is my understanding that anything can be adapted to work anywhere else so that shouldn't be an impediment.

gklinger: are you able to find any of the 1581 PCBs seperately? I want to mod a c128 to include a drive amiga-style, but I dont want to sacrifice a working 1581.
