Why do people do things like this? I collect emulators like dust bunnies so I have to have this even though I'll never need it and it's probably completely useless. At least it doesn't take up much room. :)

Beautiful. I see the auto bid bots are already circling. I'd sure like to have it but I can see this will blaze up in the last two minutes like the last one I watched did. I'll just content myself with pictures of this foxy lady. :)

General chat / Re: CMD items removed from my website

Apparantly Maaurice thinks it's ok to accept orders and payment as long as he's intending to fill the orders some day. And since he intends to fill them when he gets around to it, nobody else should make the stuff available. If he wants to find disgusting have him look in a mirror.

I suppose it's possible that he was kidnapped by aliens and is unaware of the lost time but I'm guessing he's just a dick.

Hi, and welcome. I never had a 128D but I think I'd prefer the original 128. My 128 got demoted from my main computer around 96-97 when I embarked on the windows adventure also. It's still here though, sitting beside me, ready for action. My oldest boy has taken to firing it up from time to time. Sadly I don't think my Slikstik is long for this world though. :(

Well, I guess I'll stop bitching about how rough I think I have it. At least you are still drinking beer. Beer makes everything better. Good luck, Mr. Dinosaur.

Given how much work having kids one at a time is, I can certaintly believe you. Good luck.

Congratulations. Yeah, we could give advice but you really can't give general advice. You're pretty much on your own. Hopefully you have realtives close by who can help and who will not try to turn your spawn to satan or App][e.

Basicly rest when you can. You probably have figured that one out already. I guarantee Mom has. Love your wife and your children. Be happy, stay happy. Take turns getting out for a little while. Use friends and relatives, who already have kids, to watch yours and both of you get out for a while. Keep the diapers handy. Keep the handywipes near. Puke and baby crap cleans off. Never get mad at the kids or each other. The babys will survive a crying fit. Child proof your house as best you can. Don't drop them. Keep a grip on your temper. Wear a smile for your wife and for the kids, even if you don't feel like it. Get baby monitors and a hand vacuum. Feed them mother's milk, at least for a few months. And hey, if the mood suits, why not try it yourself? Though I never did.

Have fun. Good luck. It's a great ride.

I'm glad I had mine one at a time though.

I've heard, just never seen it except for when they auctioned off the Trojan Room Coffeemachine. I watched that one because I was a fan. :)

Commodore 64 gaming / Re: Five new games
February 12, 2008, 07:11 AM
I haven't tried the rest of them, but i've been playing a lot of Jihad since yesterday. It's a pretty well done game. The title is not really appropriate. I was expecting some type of commando game or something, not a 2d flying shooter. Well if the rest of the games are this good, this'll keep me off the streets for a while. :)

Auctions et al / Re: SX-64 for auction - 2 hrs left

That's it, I'm I'm going to start watching ebay until I get one of these things. This would have been a steal. SX64 and an Altair are my two most wanted machines.

EDIT Holy smokes. 12 minutes and only $51. Too bad I don't have an ebay account.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Commodore-SX-64-Portable-Computer_W0QQitemZ250212677121QQihZ015QQcategoryZ74945QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

EDIT2: That was interesting. A last minute feeding frenzy that bumped it up $20 in the last 45 seconds. So $71.63 was the last bid.

News, views, help & info / Re: New forum software

Thus far I like it. It could be a case of just liking it better than the old one. Of course I wasn't at the old one very long so there's not really anything for me to get used to here since I wasn't used to the old one.

General chat / Counting down.....
December 29, 2007, 09:51 PM
year/month/day is the date I got used to in the army. It makes sense, biggest to smallest. If everyone would adopt the same standard I wouldn't have to spell the month abbreviation i.e. 29DEC07. There's nothing wrong with 29/12/07 either. 12,29,2007 or DEC,29 2007 is just stupid. I can understand not wanting to use metric but using some dating standard that makes no damn sense and confuses half of our citizens makes no sense at all. Therefore I vote for adopting either the DoD date or the convention that everybody else but us uses.

But no kilos. That's a druggie system. We don't want the druggies to win, now do we?

Here endeth the lesson.

General chat / Amiga Emulation?
December 15, 2007, 06:38 PM
I started using WinUAE a long time ago but I don't use it that often. I miss my Amiga 500+ but I don't have room to set it up and I'd rather keep the 128 set up instead. However WinUAE lets me have at those folks at Shufflepuck Cafe without having to worry about the mouse getting broken. That's the main reason why I put away the Amiga, the mouse buttons quite working. Too much beer spilled on it I suppose.

pedant mode on: It's Al Alcorn, not Al Acorn.

Arg, I hate running into cool reads at bed time. I'll have to read it through later, over a cup of joe.

Quote from: nikonikoI know. Diabetes runs in my family, and I'm not thrilled that recent blood glucose tests show me being pre-diabetic. Hopefully changes I'm making will help stave off the full thing.
They told me that too. I've actually started excercising regularly. bleh But I haven't gone back to the guy that told me that. That's the reason I started excercising, so I wouldn't have to be around those doctor things.

Oh and I hope you're getting better, airship.

General chat / I want this!
December 09, 2007, 08:18 PM
Can't you just make your own with a tshirt program or something? I thought our t-shirt maker thing said something about mouse pads the last time I used it. I'll have to check because I want one too but I'm a cheapskate. :)

Alas, due to me being hooked to an old beat-up TV instead of a monitor (again, I'm a cheapskate), my 128 never looked that good.

EDIT: Whew I'm no longer a windows user. Unfortunately I've only played with the KIM-1 in MESS

Ok, I finally remembered to try it and yes, it does indeed keep you from switching back to 128 mode with the reset button.

Works in VICE with the soft reset. If I think about it, I'll try it on the real deal after work but I guess it'll work as advertised.

General chat / What's up with Canada post?
November 15, 2007, 09:39 PM
Everybody knows Canadians never sleep. They are always ploting their world domination, what with their hockey hair and catchy anthem and beavers and such. No, never turn your back on a Canadian. Besides, with all our nucular testing and greenhouse gassing we keep it too warm up here for them to hibernate. It makes them cranky.

Well, that may be true but you can count on one thing. We're always keeping an eye on those Canadians. :)

I see you're an advanced. I'm a fairly new general. We should set up a sked sometime. I've never worked NJ.

No, talking through the internet is just that. I used to use the Texas Lynx network regularly down here but that was just to ragchew with some guys in Dallas. Not as a real form of radio. We used to break out and drop to 75 every now and then but they took Dallas off Lynx so that ended our sessions and pretty much my radio usage, though I started talking to a group on 75 for a while. I pretty much don't use the radio any more...which is why I guess I have time to join more forums. :(

I started out as a shortwave listener but the ham license test was too hard for me back then. I finally got my license after they made it reasonably easy to obtain. I passed my 5wpm morse test but I've never used it. I just listen to it sometimes to keep up proficiency.

As for stupidly large antennas, they are required if you want to work the low bands well. I only use a 102ft wire. It works, just not as good as a tower with a big antenna on it. Cell phones use stupidly large antennas, it's just that they are on sombody else's lot. Back in my youth TVs required stupidly large antennas. One of those would do you well in ham radio...you know, if it was tuned right.

But yeah, I'd say it's a dying hobby. There are some new operators coming on line but not that many. It's just not that special to chat to some foriegn country these days on a radio when you can do so easily and reliably over the internet.

Gaming / Earth Orbit Station
November 09, 2007, 07:59 PM
Shoot, I've been calling it ECA for 20 years. Turns out there's no reason to. Looking at the packaging for all my C=64 EA games, I see no definition for the logo. It's always been called Electronic Arts. At some point I decided that it was a C and stood for something that I forgot like 'computer'. Now that I think about it I decided back in the day that it meant the last C in electronic but I made that up so long ago that I forgot I made it up. Just goes to to show how a habit can become your own reality if it goes on long enough. Sorry for the interuption. Nothing to see here, move along. :)

Since I have my soapbox pulled up already though, the bunny legend is mislabeled in the wiki quote, or at least worded a bit sloppy and contridicted by clicking a few links at wiki. The legend revolves around the stars on any given Playboy, not the hidden bunnies themselves. The bunnies are there. Somebody should fix that but I'm not a wiki. I'm sure this has something to do with 128s. I'm just not sure what. :rodna:
