Already tried, doesn't work in SCPU turbo mode :-/

The documentation is a joke.  No way to tell with any certainty if it'll work with the 128.  They do list a 15k scan rate as a CGA input, which would match a 128 NTSC unit.

Thanks. I guess there would still need to be a modification for the intensity line?

Has anyone tried this one with the 128's RGBi?

I'm just curious, I will probably stay with my current S-video board.

@Hydrophilic

You will have a proof of concept modification done by the end of the weekend?  ;)

This is indeed a regular "flat" Commodore 128, not a 128D. There were millions of flat Commodore 128s sold, so not exactly rare.

Good luck with your sale though, it could be a very nice system even though not rare. Asking price would probably be helpful. Most users here probably already have multiples of this computer in their collection, but there are also likely some hoarders among us ;)

I don't suppose there is an unlocked/master copy of an English version floating around ? :-)

And a 128 version?

How did you import the files into Geos? I'm assuming these are Geos files in the zip, they will need to be extracted in Geos or they will get screwed up.

MakeSysDisk absolutely needs a master disk. AFAIK there are Wheels Master disks on Pokefinder, I believe they are v4.1. The biggest problem you will encounter is updating to version 4.4. I have yet to find a way to update 4.1 to 4.4. I have an update disk, but it only works to update 4.2 to 4.4.

There you go! It is in 40 column mode this test, detected turbo at 20mhz correctly.

Here you go!

Turbo on:

Yes, it stopped there. That is the whole screen.

Turbo off:

As you see when in 20Mhz the screen output stopped at CPU speed. In the 1Mhz it got the speed right, but says I have no JiffyDOS (which I do). Otherwise looking good.

I'm not really worried about getting credit, I'm not doing much. If you do, redrumloa is fine.

I'll test the new one when I get home.

There hasn't been one in South Florida is ages, I doubt you find one in Central Florida  :(

If you find or start one, I may make the trip once in a while.

Wow.  The impression I got from your post was that the Rear Admiral was for existing Lt. Kernal units.  I had no idea this would translate into ACTUAL Lt. Kernal II units being sold.

http://cgi.ebay.com/XETEC-LT-KERNAL-II-160MB-HARD-DRIVE-COMMODORE-128-NEW-/300486908771?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f66a5b63

Thinking about brand new Commodore hard drive systems being sold in 2010 makes me smile.  I hope he sells lots of units.

Nice... I remember the extreme negativity and skepticism when word of the Rear Admiral first came out. It is nice to see that indeed an actual product followed. I'm doubtful I'll ever get one as it seems to not be compatible with the SuperCPU 128. Still, nice to see new product on the market.

As my opinion - only  - don't take wheels.. only GEOS enhacement...

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I am enjoying the new life of Wheels on my uIEC.

GEOS / Wheels update for v4.0 and v4.1?
October 28, 2010, 06:42 AM
Does anyone have an updater for Wheels 128 v4.0 and v4.1? I have the update disk for 4.2 to 4.4, but it does NOT work on 4.1. I personally have an original 4.2, but I know several others with 4.1 who cannot update.

sd2iec 0.10.0pre2 has been released! Big new update including support for Wheels and all disk images including D81 and DNP! Click HERE for more info.

One option you did not mention is working with Ingo and Jim Brain on implementing a fast serial routine on the uIEC that would be sufficient for your needs.  This may require a bounty on commodorebounty.com but in the end such a routine could be a benefit to the whole community and if the computer side uses standard kernel calls then it could become a cart or internal ROM.

I'd be very interested in that bounty, speaking for Commodore Bounty.

Did you luck out on case dimensions or were you able to research and find one that would fit a standard 128 board length? Good work in any case.

Bad ass, good stuff. That a flat 128 motherboard? I'm surprised you got it to fit! I actually had an easier time with the 128D mb.
