Hi All,

Thanks for the suggestion!  I actually found a seller on eBay that is selling the "User Port Commander".  This thing is similar to GeoCable but has other features.  However, this thing also blocks the user port on the 128D.  The creator, Charles, is now working on a smaller version of the Commander which will work on the 128D.

Hi All,

I recently got the Commodore RS-232 adapter which plugs into the user port.  I could have gotten one of the newer Jim Brain designs that are out there but I wanted to stay as "original" as possible.  I think I may have made a mistake.

The VIC 1011A adapter when inserted blocks the adjacent RGBi port.  As such I cannot the user and RGBi ports at the same time.

Does anyone have a solution?  Perhaps somekind of user port extension cable?

Please advise.

GEOS / Re: Unkey or rekey a master?
November 13, 2010, 01:43 AM
Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I tried GunZip and UnZip64 without success again.  Both of these are unzippers for outside GEOS.  It is my understanding that I need an unzipper from WITHIN GEOS in order to extract the rekey files contained in this thread (change.zip)?

GEOS / Re: Unkey or rekey a master?

Hi,

Thank you for the tip!  I have downloaded GEOZip to try to extract the zip file from within GEOS.  However, this program requires a SuperCPU!

I searched for others but could not find other unzippers.

Does anyone know of others that do not require a SuperCPU?

Hi,

I've tried that without success.  When I try to start each of those files from within GEOS, it kicks me out back to the dos prompt?

Am I missing something?

Hi All,

Don't mean to sound like a n00b but...

How am I supposed to run the files contained in change.zip?

Hi redrumloa,

Thank for the link.  However, I tried this one before and it does not work.  This is not a Master disk.

According to the Wheels manual, the Master disk should only contain one file called Installer.

Does anyone have a virgin copy?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have visited pokefinder again and could not locate any Wheels 128 master disk.

I may may be overlooking something.  Can you show me where it is?

PS: I wil worry about the 4.4 upgrade issue you mentioned after I get 4.1 working ;-))

Hi All,

I have decided to take the plunge once again and try to setup Wheels 128 on my RamLink. I am currently running GEOS 128.

Anyways, I downloaded several versions of WHEELS 128 on various sites (including pokefinder) and there is a problem.

In order to me to establish a WHEELS bootable partition with the RamLink, I believe I to run a program called MakeSysDisk on the Wheels disk?

However, this program will not run since it requires the Wheels MASTER disk. A Master disk is a virgin Wheels disk which has never ever been installed.

Does anyone know where I can download this Master disk?  Or conversely, do I even need MakeSysDisk?  Is it valid to just manually copy all the required WHEELS files to the RamLink DACC partition?

Herdware / Re: JiffyDOS for C1581

Hi All,

FYI, my 1581 came also with the ROM in a socket.  I had to disassemble the drive somewhat but all in all, it was a very painless procedure.

Hi All,

Thanks for the 80 Col program recommendations. There are quite a few indeed...

Of note, for those of you also using SVIDEO on the 40 column output of the C128, you will need to plug that output to a different SVIDEO input of the TV or use a SVIDEO box changer.  I tried originally using a cheap SVIDEO Y-adapter (for both 40 col and 80 col) and it was causing interference.

Also, its a shame that most of the new LCDs that are out don't even have any SVIDEO inputs!  But those that do only sport one SVIDEO input...

PS:  I am currently using the revised schematic of Hydrophilic and it is working great on my LCD.  So far so good on the 15V AC adapter. I remember I was using an 18V AC adapter for the longest time on my Nintendo 8 bit machine (rated at 9V or so) with no ill effect!

Hi All,

Just a quick thanks to everyone here and Hydrophilic for the cool intensity hack!

I just finished this hack over the weekend and it works great.  I can't wait to get rid of my 1902A monitor now...

Anybody know of any cool 80 column games other than the ones by Infocom?

PS:  I didn't have a 9V or 12V adapter handy so I am using a 15V one.  The specs say that 15V is OK so I hope I don't burn the board...
