Hey there fellows... I've been a lurker for a while. I enjoy the site a great deal.

I have a question. I have a C128D w/ an additional 1571 drive and a 1902 monitor. All are in pretty good shape. The monitor has a couple of little scratches as does the 1571. Also the monitor has a couple of techy pots and 40/80 switch. Nothing that impairs the fuction, just age I guess.

The wife and I are thinking of reproducing and this would mean the new Norris would get the old one's computer room. (I have more modern/ancient stuff than just the 128D).

So I am thinking about selling it.

How much would you ask for it?

I might like to replace it with a 64C, 1541 II, and one of those "roll your own" 1581s. I find myself really only using c64 mode anyway (I know, I know, curses on my head around here).

I am one of the fortunate ones to have a local Commodore Shop (Right here in little ol' Salt Lake City Utah). Reid might give me a fair trade, but thought I would ask the 128 experts first.

I reckon you'll get way more enjoyment outta the 128! And it'll be cheaper in the long run too........

I hope you get at least $200 for the lot... good luck

I forgot to mention that I have the original manuals and two pretty hardcore Abacus books... Tips and Trick for your 128 & Anatomy of the 1571... er, something like that.

And an "Amiga" Powerstick (for those that know what I'm talking about). I even have two for the T1-99, though I'm a thousand years away from having/wanting a TI-99.

Would you be willing to sell Anatomy of the 1571 separately? If so, what would you ask? I've found it for $9.27 at AbeBooks, around $18 when factoring in shipping to the US from the UK bookstore that's selling it.

I am definitely living on the wrong side of the US. First I find out they're stockpiling 128s out in Fresno, and now I learn there's a Commodore shop in Salt Lake City.

I would be happy to part with the book separately to anyone who hangs out around here. (Even happier to trade something for it). Let me find out what it will cost... What's you zip?

By the way... my local shop is run by a guy name Reid Swenson, his shop is the Computer Bargin Store, and his website is www.oldsoftware.com (love the name)... Just a plug for old Reid there. Been selling C= since the dawn of man. Fair guy his site prices include shipping...
I got mine there I think it was around $20. And it would get to you a whole lot faster than a trip across the pond.

The 128D is nice, very nice. I've had one forever and just before I moved in August I picked up another (along with a few more goodies for both). But since it does do 64 mode, and a 1571 functions similar to a 1541 in 64 mode, why get rid of it in the first place? Even if you rarely use the 128 side, and even rarer the Z80, at least that functionality is there should the urge ever take over. With original manuals and lot, it'd fetch a nice price on the market. You might regret getting rid of it, though.

Yeah, I might regret getting rid of it indeed. My wife has suggested just that, as I have regretted getting rid of my really old HP-85 and my hot rod Amiga 600, BUT I just have got too much old/semi new hack stuff.

Apple IIs over here, Nintendo over there, componets over over there... Above all I have cherished my 128D, but I could reduce the size of the Commodore lot by replacing it with a 64 and 1541... then blow the money on something like JiffyDOS. The 128 needs a monitor. The 64 came be hooked up to a TV... AND if I only use the 64 modes?

Well, anyway if anyone has trade/ or buying in mind I am open.

You are right the 128D is a supreme machine. I think that along with the Amiga 3000 and the Apple IIgs, it was one of the machines I jones for the most in my "broke" youth.

Ouch - the HP's  are somewhat common  but still...  I've got three (all with full ROM drawers) but only one has a usable tape drive - usual problem rubber roller has completely decayed in the two others. What sort of condition was yours in ? What price did you get for it ?

I had a HP-85 and a HP-86, half a dozen cart/slots...

One of them had the built in monitor/printer the other was just the CPU. I had some bocks too.

I ended up finding a fan site, emailing the dude, and giving them to him (he paid shipping). The one with the monitor (HP-85 I believe) he had me scrap out all the parts. He didn't want the case/monitor.

I was just happy to give them to guy that loved them. I got them, because a friend of a friend died and his wife gave them to me.
