Well, I finally got to hook up my C128 I got for Christmas, got my serial cable in the mail I bought off of e-bay, and hooked up my 1571 disk drive.  I was all set to play some games, and now I have a problem.

When I put a disk into the disk drive, and type LOAD"*",8,1  I get the disk drive to run, and the monitor displays SEARCHING FOR *. Then, the disk drive runs forever and thats it.  It never loads and doesn't stop running, no matter how long I wait.

If I turn on the disk drive first with the computer off, the red and green lights come on (solid, not blinking) and stay on, but the computer will not give me the READY and blinking cursor command (like its locked up).  If I turn on the computer first, I get the READY and blinking cursor, and then when I turn on the disk drive I get the red light (solid) only and no green light.

Any help in this matter would be very much appreciated.  I hope this is something simple so that I can start enjoying my C128 soon!

What happens with the 1571 if you power it without the serial cable connected to it?
x86?  We ain't got no x86.  We don't need no stinking x86!
