Is it just my computer or are all the posts in the forum now centered ?

I'm not seeing that (or any change for that matter).

I've got IE6 and it's centered for me. I makes everything here look like poetry. :)

Ok, IE6 & 7 don't like the formatting options in the main template (bloody typical), why oh why can't M$ follow standards ?

I'll work on it when I get home from work in a couple of hours.

Should be "IE" compatible again.

(bah, humbug) :)

Doesn't centre under IE 7 or Firefox, what browser are you running ?

Yup I have the poetry thing going on still as well ... I blame the sysadmin, obviously clueless! ;-)

IE6 only by the look of things....

Blacklord

Fiddled with the template again - think I've clobbered it this time.

Now can we all start using Firefox ? :)

Lance

Anyone who uses IE deserves to see garbled pages.

Just my opinion... :)

No real choice at work though as most our internal applications are IE only .. ho hum!

But I see it's all back to "normal" again :-)

IE7 on vista, seems fine now though.

Goodo, now I'll think I'll send a copy of Firefox to all our IE users :)

I only have 1gb, I'd only be able to run it for 5 minutes.

I think it's funny how the people behind a bad memory leaking software claims a moral victory over IE. It's all about spin and marketting, firefox.com should get into politics.

It's all about stability, security & standards - something IE doesn't have in any great quantities.....

cheers,

SMF, that's funny... I only have 512K of memory and I run the latest version of Firefox concurrently with Thunderbird CONSTANTLY, usually with Visio, Paint Shop Pro, and/or Word running as well. I've never had a single problem.

And the fact that Firefox properly displays web pages that follow standards, whereas IE doesn't, speaks for itself.

My credentials: I wrote 22 books about Netscape in particular and HTML in general, so I know a little bit about what I'm talking about.

Uhh... I'm hoping you mean you have 512MB of memory...  You can't even install Windows 3.1 with only 512KB of memory!  Of course, if you were talking about a C128 with 512KB of memory, you'd be all set!  ;)

It's tough switching mentally from 8-bit to 32-bit all the time. I keep thinking that 512K is a HUGE amount of memory! ;)

airship: What kind of RAM does your computer use? I have all kinds of spare RAM modules laying around and I would gladly send you some if you could use them.

Golan, I don't even want to open up this old dinosaur again. Every time I patch it, it puts off my upgrading to a straight Linux box. :)

But thanks for the offer!

Weird as loads of people have been moaning about firefox leaking memory for ages.

I personally find that more web sites look better with IE than firefox.  I did get stumped by a website that refused to open unless I installed firefox, but I can't even remember what that site was now & no I didn't bother installing it again.

No web browser follows the standards 100%, there was a test suite a while back that absolutely none of them passed. Another problem is that most web sites don't follow the standards either, so while the page might look fine on firefox or IE it doesn't mean that it will display correctly on all of them. You often have to put different code into your pages because of the differences between jscript/javascript, which leaves the door wide open for sites that work with one but not the other down to the web programmers personal choice.

Anyway, I was just sticking up for IE as I am perfectly happy with it. If you don't want firefox bashed then don't bash IE.

The standards test is called the Acid2 test and Safari, Apple's browser, was the first to pass the test way back on October 31, 2005 and for the record, IE has never passed it.

How is it bashing to say something doesn't comply with standards when it doesn't?
